Garage Prep Before Winter in Canton, Ohio

Garage Cleanout Dumpster in Canton, Ohio

A garage cleanout dumpster gives old furniture, boxes, household junk, and leftover project material one place to go before winter. Cobra Roll-Off rents roll-off dumpsters from 2154 Bolivar Rd. S.W., Canton, Ohio 44706, serving Canton and Northeast Ohio. The goal is simple: make room for the car again and create usable storage space for what you’re keeping.

Clean Out the Garage Before Winter

Garages can fill up a little at a time. Old household items get stacked along the walls. Project leftovers stay in the corner. Boxes that were supposed to be temporary become permanent.

A roll-off dumpster helps keep the cleanout moving because it gives the material one place to go. You load it, and Cobra Roll-Off hauls it away when the dumpster is ready for pickup.

Garage, basement, and attic cleanouts are all projects that fit in a Cobra Roll-Off dumpster.

What Can Go in the Dumpster?

Most material that is not regulated by the EPA can go in a Cobra Roll-Off container. For a garage cleanout, that may include:

  • Household trash
  • Old furniture and home furnishings
  • Books, glassware, and bedding
  • Lumber, flooring, windows, and doors from past projects
  • Brick, block, concrete, and roofing material
  • Trees, bushes, flowers, and other landscaping material

Cobra Roll-Off has no rules of its own about what goes in the dumpster. The EPA regulates what Cobra Roll-Off is allowed to take to the landfill. Every Cobra Roll-Off container has a sticker that lists common regulated items.

Examples of regulated items include pressurized cylinders, uncured paint, petroleum products, tires, poisons, and infectious items such as medical waste.

Which Dumpster Size Works for a Garage Cleanout?

Cobra Roll-Off rents 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 40 yard roll-off dumpsters.

Cobra Roll-Off’s 10 yard page lists garage cleanouts as a 10 yard job, and the 15 yard page lists large garage cleanouts as a 15 yard job. The 10 and 15 yard dumpsters are the same box. Every 15 yard dumpster has a white line inside that marks 10 yards, so the next size is already on site if you need more room. The 15 takes the same ground space as the 10.

The 20 and 25 yard dumpsters work the same way, with a line inside the 25 marking 20 yards.

For larger cleanouts that include more of the home, such as a complete attic or basement cleanout in a larger house, a 30 or 40 yard dumpster may be an option. Those larger containers require more room for the larger truck, including height and width clearance, and they can get heavy for a residential driveway.

You can compare Cobra Roll-Off’s container options on the dumpster sizes page.

Where the Dumpster Can Go

A container goes on a solid surface. A simple rule of thumb: if you can park a vehicle there, Cobra can typically put a container there.

Before placement, the truck needs a clear path.

Cobra Roll-Off’s single-axle truck is 8 feet wide tire to tire, about 10 feet wide with mirrors, and about 11 feet tall. The tri-axle truck is 8.5 feet wide tire to tire, about 10 feet wide with mirrors, and about 12 feet tall. Make sure the path is open overhead and along the sides.

On asphalt or concrete driveways, Cobra Roll-Off lays plywood under the container’s rollers. Cobra uses hook-lift trucks, not cable trucks. Cable trucks deliver and pick up containers differently and are known for damaging driveways and surrounding property because of the lack of control as the container goes on and off.

Most placements do not require a permit. A permit only comes into it when the container sits on a street and that town requires one.

How Full Can the Dumpster Be?

Every Cobra Roll-Off container has bright max-fill-line stickers along the top edges. Ohio law governs what can be hauled on the road, and the fill line shows where the container must stop.

Every container is tarped before it is hauled. The container holds the load, and the tarp keeps material from blowing out.

If a container is overloaded, it cannot be hauled as it sits. The extra material has to come off first, either into another container or onto a pile on the ground.

Heavy material can add weight fast. If your garage cleanout includes concrete, brick, dirt, or similar material, mention that when you call.

Cobra Roll-Off Uses Its Own Trucks and Drivers

When you call Cobra Roll-Off, you are calling the company that brings the dumpster and picks it up. Cobra runs its own hook-lift trucks with its own drivers.

Some dumpster companies found online are call centers that own no equipment and have no drivers. They take an order and hand it to another hauler. That is not how Cobra Roll-Off works.
