Before winter sets in, many Canton homeowners finally take on the attic. Boxes, old furniture, bedding, books, and leftovers from past projects can pile up over the years. An attic cleanout dumpster gives all of it one place to go. Cobra Roll-Off rents roll-off dumpsters out of 2154 Bolivar Rd. S.W., Canton, Ohio 44706, to homes across Canton and Northeast Ohio. You load it, and Cobra delivers the container and hauls it away.
What Can Go in an Attic Cleanout Dumpster
Garage, basement, and attic clean-outs are common projects for a roll-off dumpster. Most of what comes down from an attic can go in the container, including:
- Household trash
- Old furniture and home furnishings
- Books, glassware, and bedding
- Lumber, flooring, windows, and doors from past projects
Cobra does not have rules of its own about what goes in. The EPA regulates what can be taken to the landfill. Each container has a sticker listing common regulated items, such as pressurized cylinders, uncured paint, petroleum products, tires, poisons, and infectious items such as medical waste.
If you are not sure about something you found in the attic, call 330-484-2113 before you toss it.
Picking a Dumpster Size for an Attic Cleanout
Cobra Roll-Off rents 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 40 yard roll-off dumpsters. Attic cleanouts are one of the common jobs for a 10 yard dumpster, along with garage, basement, landscaping, and shed cleanout projects.
If you are clearing more than just the attic, the 15 yard dumpster may also be worth considering. It takes the same ground space as the 10 yard and is taller.
The 10 and 15 yard dumpsters are the same box, with a white line inside marking 10 yards. The 20 and 25 yard dumpsters work the same way, with a line marking 20 yards. When you order a 10 or a 20, the next size is already on site if you need a little more room.
For a complete attic or basement cleanout of a larger home, a 30 or 40 yard dumpster may be an option. Those containers come on a tri-axle truck only, so they need more height and width clearance, and they get heavy on residential asphalt or concrete driveways.
Compare options on Cobra’s dumpster sizes page or read more about the 10 yard dumpster.
Where the Dumpster Goes
If you can park a vehicle there, Cobra can typically place a container there, as long as it is a solid surface. Before delivery, Cobra asks for a clear path for the truck.
The single-axle truck is 8 feet wide tire to tire and about 11 feet tall. The tri-axle truck is 8.5 feet wide and about 12 feet tall. Both are about 10 feet wide with mirrors.
On concrete or asphalt driveways, Cobra lays plywood strips under the container’s rollers. Cobra has done that since the late 90s.
Some customers want the box placed so they can throw debris out a window, off a roof, or off a porch. The order form asks about this, so note it when you order.
Filling the Container
Every container has bright max-fill-line stickers along the top edges. Keep the load at or below that line.
Every container is tarped before hauling. The container holds the load, and the tarp keeps material from blowing out on the road.
Cobra Uses Its Own Trucks and Drivers
Cobra Roll-Off runs its own hook-lift trucks with its own drivers. When you call Cobra, you are talking to the company that handles the delivery and pickup.
Rick Marino, Cobra’s president and CEO, points out that cable trucks have less control of the container on and off and are known for damaging driveways and surrounding property. Cobra uses hook-lift trucks.
